Large Group Activities

Large group activities allow your participants to work together on fun team problem solving activities with a common goal!

We have adapted some of our powerful experiential training activities to be run cost-effectivly on Conference Support Programs. The group is split into sub-teams, which replicates the workplace situation and ensures everyone is involved and engaged!

Here are just a few examples of activities we use, which can be set up in just about any area of open space:
The "Star"

Star Activity highlights sharing information between teamsThe Star is good for discussing the behaviours that supports “silo mentality ” in the workplace and visibly demonstrates the need to co-operate and network within and between different departments.

It is a powerful inter-active activity that highlights the need for small teams to co-ordinate and share resources (people/materials) in order to achieve a common goal! It is a logistical task that initially polarises teams around “competition”! However, as the activity unfolds teams realise that in order to succeed they must form alliances to achieve their goal.

Key outcomes:
  • Sharing information, “co-operation” versus “competition”.
  • Clarity of goals, acceptance of the wider team.
  • Managing the "big picture"; the impact of a team's behaviour on other teams.
  • Planning before action takes place. “Think before Do”.
Nuclear Reactor Rotate
The Nuclear Reactor, a challenging team activity with uniqure team dynamics

A challenging activity with unique team dynamics as the teams attempt to rescue the “essence of teamwork” from inside their reactorand then swop it with another team's.

No part of any human can go inside the reactor and they are working to a strict deadline. The activity is enthralling, as the team can easily split into 2 or more sub teams, all wanting resources to try their ideas!

Key outcomes:
  • Planning.
  • Time management.
  • Team leadership, ensuring clarity and focus on the task.
  • Allocation of resources, people and equipment.
The Wheelbarrows

Can your team work together to achive a quality outcome?

The Wheelbarrows, a practical team building activityThis is a practical, design and build exercise. Carried out in small teams but working together to reach a whole group project deadline! This activity highlights communication issues, co-operation and leadership.

The teams are given identical resources to build a wheelbarrow using a minimum of 70 components. All wheelbarrows must be built identically and delivered to the meeting point at the same time. Teams cannot mingle together only one member from each team can walk between teams to co-ordinate the exercise.

Key outcomes:
  • The need for effective leadership to co-ordinate the task and keep the teams focused.
  • Highlights the power of clear communication.
  • Interdependence of team members working together for a common goal.
